Dog Parks In and Near Fort Worth

Does your canine buddy absolutely love to explore new places and make new friends? Dog parks are a great way for pups to socialize and stretch their boundaries a bit. Canine-friendly parks are popping up all across the country. Here in the Fort Worth area, we’ve got several to choose from. In this article, your local Arlington Heights vet lists some of our local doggy playgrounds.

Fort Woof 3500 Gateway Park Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76111

This popular doggy park is fenced, and allows off-leash play. There are separate areas for large and small dogs. The park also offers water spigots and picnic tables. Fort Woof has the distinct honor of having been named the best dog park in the country in 2006 by Dog Fancy magazine. In 2008, it made Pedigree’s top 5!

North Bark Park 4899 Gramercy Oaks, Dallas, TX 75287

North Bark Park offers 5 acres of grassy playground, a trail, and pond. There are washing stations available, so even if your pooch loves to roll around on the ground, you can still go home with a clean dog!

Wagging Tail 5841 Keller Springs Rd., Dallas, TX 75248

This five-acre park is fairly basic, but it just may turn out to be your canine pal’s favorite spot! There are fenced-in areas for both large and small dogs, and a trail for Fido to explore.

White Rock Lake Dog Park 8000 E. Mockingbird Ln., Dallas, TX 75218

This park has been open since 2001, and hasn’t stopped growing yet! White Rock offers standard doggy park amenities, and has lake access for pooches who love swimming.

Z Boaz Dog Park 6930 Camp Bowie W Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76116

This park hasn’t opened yet, but was approved, and should be open for doggy business in 2015.

When taking Fido on a play date, always remember good ‘petiquette’. Remember to bring baggies to pick up after your pooch. You’ll also want to take along some water, unless you know you’re going to a park that offers water. Always keep copies of your pup’s shots and vaccinations with you as well. Smartphone users may find it handy to email electronic copies to yourself, so you can access them from your phone.
