Our Veterinarians

Dr. Sarah Pugliano
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Sarah Pugliano adores animals, but she also loves to solve a mystery. Since pets can’t tell her what’s bothering them, following the clues and helping a pet feel better is the ultimate reward for Dr. Pugliano! For her, every day is an exciting new challenge.

Dr. Pugliano grew up in Levelland, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University for both her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and her veterinary degree. After graduation in 2008, Dr. Pugliano signed on as an Associate Veterinarian at A-Animal Clinic and Boarding Kennel.

Working with her hands on a surgical procedure is one of the most fulfilling aspects of veterinary medicine for Dr. Pugliano. Of course, she also loves visiting with puppies and kittens and getting a brand-new pet owner started off on the right foot.

Dr. Pugliano and her husband, Ryan, live with several pets: Dingo, Ben Kenobi, and Ele, all Chihuahua mixes; Demitri, a black domestic shorthair cat; a grey tabby named Alice; and Milos the tuxedo cat.

When she isn’t working or spending time with her family and pets, Dr. Pugliano enjoys reading, playing tennis and softball, and staying active in her church.
Dr. Carol Buchanan
Associate Veterinarian
At the age of eight, Dr. Carol Buchanan discovered an orange tomcat in her family’s garage. The poor creature was suffering from a swollen and infected eye, but allowed young Dr. Buchanan to clean him and place soothing medicine drops into his eye daily until he was healed. He walked away with two perfectly good eyes, and Dr. Buchanan was forever hooked! She knew that a veterinary career was her true calling, and hasn’t looked back since.

Dr. Buchanan grew up south of San Antonio, and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music before deciding to pursue animal care full-time. She started taking pre-veterinary classes while volunteering at a local animal clinic, then started volunteering in Texas A&M University’s agriculture department and large-animal care programs. A year later, she was accepted into the school’s College of Veterinary Medicine to earn her doctorate.

Dr. Buchanan previously owned her own practice, where she served as the sole veterinarian, for 20 years before selling the facility and remaining on-staff as one of multiple doctors. In early 2004, she was offered a part-time position here at A-Animal Clinic and gladly accepted. She’s been here ever since!

Dr. Buchanan has a daughter and a son, Kara and John, as well as several grandchildren. All of her children and grandchildren are as in love with animals as she is! Dr. Buchanan lives in the country south of Fort Worth, where she’s surrounded by hundreds of oak trees, a waterfall and a stream, and plenty of wildlife. When she isn’t spending time with family or caring for pets here at the clinic, she enjoys traveling and studying complementary and alternative medicine. Dr. Buchanan has even become certified in several energetic modalities, including Reiki, reconnective healing, theta healing, and electromagnetic field balancing!
Dr. Elizabeth Brown
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Elizabeth Brown had always had an interest in the medical field, but it wasn’t until her early college years that she realized she wanted to care for those who couldn’t tell her what was wrong. Veterinary medicine was the perfect choice for her! Now, Dr. Brown is proud to care for pets and animal owners every day as one of A-Animal Clinic’s Associate Veterinarians.

Dr. Brown grew up in Pineville, Louisiana as the oldest of four children. She completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches before earning her Doctoral degree from Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Brown headed to Cooper City, Florida to complete an internship with Veterinary Specialists of South Florida, then returned to her home state after her first son was born and settled in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Brown and her family relocated to Fort Worth for her husband’s new job, and she was thrilled to join the A-Animal Clinic family shortly afterward. One of her favorite parts of her job is being able to wear a variety of hats every day; she’s a surgeon, ophthalmologist, internal medicine specialist, radiologist, and more all at the same time! Most of all, Dr. Brown enjoys forming lasting connections with her clients and patients.

Aside from her interests in the animal-care world, Dr. Brown likes listening to music, reading, fishing, and trying her hand at fantasy football. She and her husband, Derek, have two wonderful children: their son, Jordyn, is six years old, and their daughter, Parker, is four. The family shares their home with two loveable Pembroke Welsh Corgis, J.D. and Turk.
